Can a 6 yo get NLP?
My view is, depends on the child.
I have learned not to underestimate my 6 yo.
A few days ago, she was practising the piano and suddenly for a few minutes there she played like she'd been injected with adrenaline. It was passionate, powerful and inspired playing. A miracle to behold.
Hubby and I interviewed her about what we came to call the "power surge".
"So what happened to make you play with the power surge?"
Her reply was stunningly simple and to the point.
"I just told myself I HAVE to focus."
Another story.
Last week, faced with the possibility of missing out on her fourth stripe and having to wait another 8 weeks to be graded, she and I had a chat about what she needed to do to get the stripe.
After she'd come out of the dojo joyfully wearing all four stripes, I asked her what had helped her do it.
She said that all the way to class as she sat in the car, she told herself "I'm going to get my fourth stripe! I'm going to get my fourth stripe!"
As a man thinketh, so is he.
My sensei would add a further distinction. "We have to eliminate even the possibility of a doubt from their minds. So it's not 'I must try to get the stripe' but rather 'I MUST get the stripe, I WILL get the stripe'.
A powerful distinction indeed.
