Parenting Seminars @ Tarneit

Just ran my third seminar for August today at Tarneit Community Learning Centre.

These seminars sprang from my desire to equip women - the emotional and spiritual backbone of the family unit - with the tools and strategies that have been most beneficial and useful in my personal development journey as a women's life coach, mother, wife and of course, individual.

Seven ladies, two babies and one preschooler turned up for How to Inspire Your Child to be a Learning Champion.

It's a wonderful thing about women that we can connect anytime, anywhere, especially if we're also mums. By the end of the two-hour session, they were chatting together, all standing together in a cluster like they'd known each other for ages.

Love it!

Here's what we talked about:
  • The Six Core Needs that drive human behaviour, and how to use our child's primary core needs to help them with their learning attitude
  • The Three Universal Fears, and how this may hold our child back in their learning
  • What a child's primary submodality is - visual, auditory, kinesthetic and/or auditory digital - and how this influences the way they process information
  • The map is not the territory - and why kids don't always see things the way we want them to
  • When the WHY is big enough, the HOW will take care of itself - linking action to results and a higher purpose
  • If this doesn't work out, try something else. If that doesn't work out, try something else
  • The 4-Step Strategy to Achievement:
    • Decide to do it.
    • Do it.
    • Notice what happens.
    • Make changes till you achieve the outcome you want.
  • Who is it really about when we get mad at our kids - us or them?
  • Taking care of ourselves so that we have plenty to give our families
  • The importance of language - what we focus on is what we get. The unconscious mind cannot process negatives, so be mindful how we speak to our children!
  • We always have a choice
One of the ladies was so galvanized by what she learned today that she went up to the reception counter and let the admin staff know what a great workshop it had been. The admin staff told me about this on my way out.

Next round is in October 2012, where I'll be presenting on some very different topics:

17 Oct - Confidence Building Strategies for Women Returning To Work

24 Oct - What Makes Your Child Tick, and Why They Behave The Way They Do

31 Oct - Mind Read Your Way to Stronger Interpersonal Relationships
