Outcome of Camp Volunteer Application

Miss 10 burst into an after-school conversation I was having with a school mum and said, "You were too slow, Mum. You were supposed to TALK TO THE TEACHER!"

So I don't get to go to Sovereign Hill after all.

I tend to forget that I'm in the land of Don't Ask, Don't Get. Where parents fight for the honour of helping out in class and assisting on school excursions and sports carnivals, and are on first-name basis with the school principal.

Me, I'm still in the headspace of submit the form and wait for the reply, raise hand before asking questions.

I should change my strategy to First In Best Dressed.

Love this poem on http://www.creativitypost.com/psychology/ungifted_intelligence_redefined:

Here’s to the kids who are different
The kids who don’t always get A’s

The kids who have ears twice the size of their peers,
And noses that go on for days . . .

Here’s to the kids who are different,

The kids they call crazy or dumb,

The kids who don’t fit, with the guts and the grit,

Who dance to a different drum . . .

Here’s to the kids who are different,

The kids with the mischievous streak,

For when they have grown, as history’s shown,

It’s their difference that makes them unique.
