Getting Ready For Spellmasters Round 7

Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Listening to Miss B practise her AMEB and JXC Repertoire pieces.

Particularly impressed by the fiery passion in her Flamenco Dancer rendition - that piece really suits her temperament.

Not making much progress in her scales though.

Am very conscious that I don't have much control over practices and outcomes here. Miss B constantly proves that she has an independent mind and a rebellious streak.

Am so enjoying Miss J's blossoming verbal prowess.

Tonight, as I admired her drawings of animals, she responded, "I copied them from the book. They inspired me."

I relayed her use of 'inspired' to hubby and even he was impressed.

Lately, she's been watching Barbie videos with Miss B: Mermaidia, A Fashion Fairytale, Fairy Secret. FS is her favourite. She can watch it over and over and tonight, she displayed how much of the script has actually embedded itself in her memory.

She can recite, with 100% accuracy, the entire exchange from when Taylor and Carrie are trapped in the Fury Sphere by Princess Graciela and are trying out different gadgets to help them escape, to Raquelle and Barbie realizing, as they sit in a cage, that their tense relationship is due to them misunderstanding each other.

It's just incredible what a motivated human mind can achieve.

If a 4 yo can do so much, what about the rest of us?

These have been the most relaxing school hols ever.

For nearly 2 weeks now, we've been doing nothing but hang out at home. Waking up at 10 in the morning and staying up really late. The girls entertain themselves (except when they get hungry and restive). Books, toys, videos and ABC 4 Kids have all received a really good workout.

Both girls have found a common love: Barbie. Even I, who have never liked Barbie dolls, can't help liking her in her videos. Barbie: A Fashion Fairytale and Barbie: A Fairy Secret are our favourites. Love the impeccably stylish heroines, girl power storyline, cool lines (which Jordanne knows by heart) and cool music.

Will be very sorry when 11 Oct rolls around and I have to confront school lunches and early mornings for another 10 weeks.
